The Last 30 Days: My Health

So, I get this stomach ache. Not just a regular tummy ache, but different. Little spasms. Went to bed with no dinner only to not be able to sleep from the pain. Called my surgeon in the morning and he sends me to the hospital to get some tests done. Did the catscan thing. Swallowed 32 ounces of that thick white stuff, got more of it up my butt and iodine through my veins. The radiology doc comes to talk to me afterward and tells me that there is something going on with my liver and lungs and wants to do another scan, this time of my whole chest. More iodine in my veins. How much of that stuff is safe to have? Another scan done.
What about my tummy?? Ahh, there seems to be a distention of the area just past my stomach in the duodenum/jujunum area. Could be afrom a blockage. And?? "Your doc will talk to you". So I get a bit concerned. I am supposed to go to Spain in 2 weeks. I am moving, I am buying my house (see above posts). Doc Crooms calls me and tells me I can go home, drink clear liquids and call him if it gets worse. Well the stuff up my butt wants out. So off to the bathroom I went, I evacuated (hehe I love that term) and the spasms disappear. OK, that's good. The achy part is still there, so I drink clear liquids and soups for the next 4 days. Thank you Alina for the yummy soups. But I want to know the results of the second scan. What about my lungs and liver? After repeated calls to his office, and getting no calls back, my oncologist calls me and tells me he received the results of the scans and thinks it should be ok. Just does not sound that great to me. Well, I have a visit with him anyway in 4 days, so I will have my list of questions then.
Yeah, so I see him (that was 4 days ago, btw), and he read some of the report to me and it just did not sound like it was a clear result. I wanted to hear "it's nothing". But instead he said we should repeat it in 3 months. Ok, it's not bad, but it does not sound like I am out of the woods either. SO I will see him in November.
I am visualizing very clear lungs and a very clean liver. Would you do it for me too? Thank You

The Last 30 Days: Home

Mariano and I went to mediation on July 11. We got divorced April 11 and had an order drawn at that time. At mediation it went significantly different. I pay my attorney 250 an hour. He pays his attorney 250 an hour. We pay a third attorney, who does the mediation, 250 an hour. We started at 8 am and finished at 6:15 pm. Do the math.
I lost all my back child support. He had not paid one penny of support since 2003. My child support which its amount was decided in April got cut in half. The house which we had agreed prior to this day that we would split the profits 50/50 went way wrong. Instead of 75K, I pay him 95K. So financially, I got shat on. But, as my attorney reminded me... you have your house, your family and your dignity. He has nothing but money. OK, yeah I can dig that. It's just that...
He has no obligations! Ethically he does, but he does not see it that way. There are too numerous financial obligations to mention. He feels none are his. Ethically, he should.
So I refinanced the house with the bank and got a little extra so I could not just buy him out and get the house back, but also to buy a little condo apartment that I can then rent out. Well, I am "renting" it out to one of my boys. Intermission...
OK, I'm back. Got me some French bread with Danish butter and a glass of German wine, Spatlese. The world is awesome. Hmm American chocolate...
So all this banking took some work. And some ass kicking!
Gave my landlord notice that I would move out by August 10th. Now, Mariano gets to stay in the house until I get back from Spain in October. I don't leave until the 15th of August. I did a mad dash to move everything out. It is now stored in my house which I cannot live in yet. So basically I am homeless for 5 days. I am staying at my son's house for now.
Let's see what else...
Moved Leon out of FSU and now have his stuff in storage. I drove him to Jacksonville a few days ago so he could visit my brother in St Croix. You do know that we in Tally drive all the way to Jacksonville because the flights are significantly lower from there, yes? It was a nice drive. In the middle of my move. He is having a very nice time with my bro.
Oh yeah, and my son Kristopher and his girl split up. She kicked him out, basically, and I took him in. So we moved him into my house (the one I just moved out of) and of course 2 weeks later we moved him out as well since it was my moving day. He is now staying at his sister Layla's house. Until I get back from Spain, at which time he will live with me at my house. And we will do th emove all over again.
Enough? Let's see, what else. Oh yeah... I have my regular life too. I go to work, I am on call, etc

The Last 30 Days : Las Vegas

So New York got me all excited with its shows. But, I would like to see a Cirque de Soleil. Seen enough of them on TV... how about a real one? Yeah there's one in Orlando. Go online and see? There are 4 of them in Las Vegas!! 4! I always wanted to go to Las Vegas! Check flights, work out the time off at the Cottage... ready! But, alone? Hmm. So I call Layla... "Hey Layla, want to go to Las Vegas?" Hell yeah, went her end of the phone. Wow, I have not done a real vacation with my 2 oldest kids. So I call Kristopher... "Hey Kristopher, want to go to Las Vegas? Sure, went his end of the phone. So, reservations made, time off arranged.... perfect!
OK, you saw the last post where I said I want to cram as much in. I might never go back there again!
Checked into the Luxor. We are in Egypt. How neat is that hotel.
First night we decided to do one of Vegas' famous buffets. Where do they get all this food??? Awesome. A little pricey but what the hell... we're on vacation. And I thought Vegas gave away food and drinks ( I meant that supposedly it is very cheap, since they are getting your gambling money). Oh well.
Yeah did a little gambling. I must say the slot machines are boring as hell. They have taken the fun out of them by making them computerized. I like the activity of putting in a quarter, pulling the handle, waiting for the results and hearing the quarters coming out of the bottom and putting them back into your little bucket... much more interactive. Now you put in a paper ticket or bill and use your one finger to click the button. Watch people's faces... they look so bored.
Walked to another hotel. Saw the Shark Reef. Pool with wave action.
Layla and I went to the Hoover Dam. Took a picture of the temperature reading of our car... yeah 115 degrees. The water is way down. They too are having a very big dry spell. Toured the whole thing.
Went clubbing. Well, they did, I just went for the first part. An 80s band playing great music. Layla and Kristopher danced away. People getting nutty... I loved it.
Went to the pool. I had to buy a bathing suit for the occasion (all 1 hour of it) The place is too damn hot!
Walked through other hotels so we can see their themes... the castle one (they have a knights and horses battle show), the pirate one (they have girly pirates doing some swashbuckling, titty swinging stuff), the Volcano (fake of course, but still fun), the dancing waters (to music, very nice).
AND... I got to see my Cirque de Soleil show. The Beatles' LOVE show. OK, so I cannot describe it because it was very trippy. It's one of those where you say "You just had to be there". Worth the flight, the hotel and the price of admission. What a wonderful show. The music, the acrobatics, the costumes, the trinkets, the sheets that went over the whole audience, the colors, etc It was a trip! So thankful that I got to see that one. We had incredible seats, too.
The kids did not want to go with me, so I decided to go alone to Zion National Park. Drove the 2 plus hours just to be in touch with the natural beauty of that area of Utah.. I had been there 25 years ago and wanted to see it again. There it was...just how I left it. I got to hike a little in one of the canyons.
We did some touristy shopping and came home.
About that never going back thing? In those 5 days we managed to see only one side of the strip. Never touched a hotel across the street. There is the Venice one, the Paris one....

The Last 30 Days : New York

I have been a busy girl..
Went to New York with Betsy. (thank you Betsy!) Did the whole tourist thing there. Crammed as much as I could figuring I would never return there, since I want to see the whole world.
-Museum of Modern Art (so I am not a big modern art fan)
-Harbor Cruise at sunset (saw Manhattan Island from a boat and the Statue of Liberty, too)
-the Guggenheim Museum (I like the architecture better than the art)
-Central Park (didn't see enough of it)
-5th Avenue, 42nd Avenue, Broadway (I like city life....so much happening...so many people to see - did some shopping in those posh stores)
-the Italian restaurant (with the mafia guy and his bodyguards)
-Norah Jones at the Good Morning America show (she is so cute and little)
-of course LIVE EARTH (the lineup: BonJovi, Alicia Keyes, AFI, Dave Matthews Band, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, the Police, Roger Waters, Melissa Etheridge, Smashing Pumpkins, KT Tunstall, Ludacris, John Mayer, Fallout Boy, Akon, Keith Urban, Taking Back Sunday , and a bunch of famous movie people, and also Al Gore)
-up the Empire State Building (which was our back door neighbor at our hotel)
-The Lion King on broadway (opening scene got me crying - incredible work... a must see)
-the Color Purple on Broadway (yes I cried... alot! Very powerful and well done musical; I got a picture with Fantasia!)
-saw Ground Zero (nothing there but machines and alot of dirt, I was hoping to see a memorial or something more meaningful than a chin link fence with some dried up flowers hanging from it)
-walked through Soho (very nice area), walked through Greenwich Village (yes, I went into a head shop)
-and saw my frined from Gainesville, Jana (hung out on the rooftop of the flat where she was staying).
So we got bumped from our flight and was given a voucher for a future flight. PHEW!! that was all in 5 days!
So, remember when I said I crammed it in since I would probably never return there? Well, now I got second thoughts.... I just did not see enough. New York is incredible! So many more places to see... and of course those Broadway shows are still there.... Phantom, Miss Saigon, Chicago, Les Miserables....Christmas in New York would be nice.
OH!! I know the subway system real well now... let's go!!
